ScreenCheck developed a system and presented it to the Mexico Federal Government to aid in the recovery of lost children. This system is designed for implementation anywhere on the globe. By using the web, alerts are issued instantly and are focussed locally, regionally, or nationally. The emergency is outlined for all surrounding law enforcement agencies through a web application like Google Maps. Border patrol, television, and radio stations are informed automatically by an email that includes a full child description. For more information, please contact ScreenCheck at 1-866-484-0611 ext. 11. More details...

Approximately 60,000 Mexican children are lost per year. The large volume of missing children and the Mexico landscape make recovery a logistical nightmare. When a child is recovered, proving his identity and verifying his parents are difficult tasks. This system easily matches child to parent using biometrics. It is web-enabled so recent child photos are consistently uploaded as the child ages. The system dramatically reduces the time to disseminate the missing child's information to the proper authorities and media outlets. Additionally, the information links with Google Maps or a similar technology and informs officers where the child vanished. This narrows the investigation area, and any recovered child is immediately checked against the database's biometric information to verify his identity. Obtaining a card is seamless. A family registers with a local office by providing documents to prove each member's identity. A SmartCard is issued for each family member; it is a photo ID and it stores the biometric information (thumbprints and iris scans) needed for identification purposes. Iris is important because fingerprints stop developing around the age of 9.
